Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center is located at 1271 Hanover Street, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 in northern Westchester County. Hilltop is a working crop farm and environmental educational center. The farm was a former dairy farm dating back to the 1600's. Today the farm is a regional education center that offers programs on healthy and sustainable food production and teaches skills for small-scale suburban and urban farming techniques, illustrating sustainable living practices for the region and local communities.

Mohansic Golf Course is located at 1500 Baldwin Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598. Rolling hills and moderately steep slopes combine to make Mohansic the most challenging of the county's courses. There are many tight holes that are an excellent test of a golfer's ability, with uphill, downhill and side hill shots. All 18 tees have recently been fully renovated, and several greens have been upgraded.

The Taghkanic Chorale is the oldest (42 years) choral group in Northern Westcheter, with concerts in Ossining and Valhalla, Taghkanic Chorale rehearses on Tuesday nights from 7:30 to 10:00 pm at the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene in Yorktown Heights, NY. The Taghkanic Chorale is a non-profit, non-sectarian, community-based volunteer chorus. It serves talented singers and enthusiastic concert goers from Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, and Orange counties, and the mid-Hudson Valley.

"Yorktown is 45 miles N. of New York, and 6 E. of Peekskill. Pop.2,819. Crompond is a small village containing 2 churches and about a dozen dwellings. The names of the post offices are Yorktown, Pine Bride, and Shrub Oak. Through the south part flows the Croton River, where is located the great dam and reservoir for the Croton aqueduct. This river was named after an ancient sachem, Croton, who resided on its banks at the first settlement of the country." |
